Cirrus Logic Inc. today took steps to end its legal battles by settling all outstanding litigation with Nvidia Corp. The two companies have entered into a cross-license agreement.
Still outstanding though is a suit against ATI Technologies Inc. in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, Austin Division, for infringement of a Cirrus patent relating to graphics processor technology. Cirrus Logic filed the suit in May against both ATI and Nvidia.
The companies said all outstanding claims and counterclaims in the lawsuit between Cirrus and Nvidia will be dismissed. Cirrus Logic will also transfer to Nvidia a portion of its patent portfolio relating to the former graphics products group of its PC products division, a business that Cirrus exited several years ago.
Although financial details of the settlement with Nvidia were not disclosed, Cirrus said that as a result of the settlement, its total cash at the end of its fiscal Q2 2004 is expected to be between $113 million and $118 million, compared to $115.5 million at the end of fiscal Q1.
Cirrus said its patent infringement claims against ATI remain pending.
