Innatera and 42 Technology partner to advance neuromorphic edge AI

Monday, December 8, 2025

Neuromorphic computing specialist Innatera has joined forces with UK-based innovation consultancy 42 Technology (42T) to accelerate the adoption of brain-inspired processors in industrial and consumer applications.

The collaboration aims to deliver ultra-low-power artificial intelligence at the sensor edge, enabling smarter, more responsive products.

The partnership will combine Innatera’s spiking neural processors with 42T’s expertise in complex industrial systems to develop edge AI solutions for anomaly detection and condition monitoring. These technologies are designed to help manufacturers reduce unplanned downtime, improve asset reliability, and enhance operational safety through continuous, localised insights.

“Neuromorphic computing is one of the most disruptive developments we’ve seen in industrial sensing and control for a long time,” said Jon Spratley, CEO of 42 Technology. “Our clients want practical ways to extract more value from their machines and processes – from higher uptime and better product quality to safer working environments. By combining Innatera’s ultra-efficient, event-driven processors with our product development expertise, we can unlock entirely new classes of smart, responsive solutions that weren’t feasible with traditional electronics and AI.”

Innatera’s processors are based on Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs), a brain-inspired approach to AI that processes information as sparse, time-based events rather than dense data streams. This event-driven architecture enables sub-millisecond response times and ultra-low power consumption, allowing always-on pattern recognition and anomaly detection directly at the sensor edge without relying on cloud infrastructure.

“Across industries, products are being packed with sensors, but too often that rich data never turns into meaningful insight where it matters most: inside the device,” said Sumeet Kumar, CEO of Innatera. “Our neuromorphic processors enable continuous monitoring within tight power and cost budgets. Partnering with 42T means we can move from lab prototypes to real-world products faster – embedding brain-inspired intelligence into motors, machines, and connected devices so they can monitor themselves, catch problems early, and deliver new value without depending on the cloud.”

42 Technology, headquartered in Cambridge, has nearly three decades of experience helping clients in industrial, consumer, energy, and healthcare sectors turn complex engineering challenges into manufacturable solutions. The consultancy works across the full product lifecycle, from strategy and prototyping to industrialisation and scale-up.
