SK Hynix Showcases Next-Generation Memory and AI Solutions at FMS 2025

Friday, August 15, 2025

SK Hynix reaffirmed its leadership in the global memory market by unveiling its latest DRAM, NAND, and AI memory solutions at the Future of Memory and Storage (FMS) 2025, held from August 5 to 7 in Santa Clara, California. Celebrating its 19th anniversary, FMS—a rebranded successor to the Flash Memory Summit—expanded its scope this year to focus on all areas of memory and storage, aligning with the emerging demands of the AI era.

As a “Full Stack AI Memory Provider,” SK Hynix presented a range of advanced memory products and future technologies designed to catalyze next-generation AI innovation. Its keynote speeches, presentation sessions, and exhibition booth worked cohesively to showcase the company's technological leadership, allowing global partners and visitors to experience SK Hynix’s cutting-edge solutions firsthand.

A comprehensive lineup of AI-optimized memory products

At the event, SK Hynix displayed numerous next-generation memory products spanning DRAM and NAND, aiming to lead the AI memory market. Highlights included the industry’s first sample of the 12-layer HBM4, as well as innovations such as LPDDR5X, CXL Memory Module-DDR5, 3DS RDIMM, and Tall MRDIMM. On the NAND front, the company introduced data center SSDs like the PS1010 E3.S with 176-layer 4D NAND, the 238-layer PEB110 E1.S, its first QLC PC SSD PQC21, and the new 245TB high-capacity data center SSD PS1101 E3.L, among all 19 NAND solutions displayed.

SK Hynix also demonstrated real-world performance through various operational showcases. For example, a system equipped with CMM-DDR5 memory combined with an Intel Xeon server delivered up to 50% increased storage capacity and 30% higher memory bandwidth, demonstrating scalability and efficiency in practical environments.

Collaborations and advanced testing in high-performance computing

In partnership with Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), SK Hynix showcased breakthrough storage technology for high-performance computing (HPC). Their demo featured Data-aware CSD-based computational storage (OASIS) capable of autonomous data recognition and analysis, significantly boosting data processing performance for HPC workloads.

Additional innovations included Processing-In-Memory (PIM) products such as GDDR6-AiM, which integrates computational functions into GDDR6 memory, enabling up to 16 times faster processing when paired with CPUs or GPUs. The AiM-based Accelerator (AiMX) was also highlighted as an energy-efficient, high-performance solution for handling large volumes of data.

The event also featured a Memory-Centric AI Machine demonstration, illustrating how CXL-based pooled memory connects multiple servers and GPUs for distributed Large Language Model (LLM) inference, demonstrating a marked performance improvement over traditional network-based systems.

Leadership and insights from SK Hynix executives

Throughout FMS 2025, SK Hynix showcased its thought leadership through keynotes, panels, and 13 technical sessions. Vice Presidents Kim Cheon-Seong and Choi Joon-Yong delivered a joint keynote titled “Where AI begins: Full-Stack Memory Redefining the future,” emphasizing the rapid shift from AI training to inference and how advanced memory is critical to this evolution. Kim highlighted the importance of storage solutions for AI inference workloads, while Choi stressed the versatility of high-bandwidth, low-power HBM in meeting emerging AI demands.

Company executives and engineers actively participated in panel discussions, sharing insights on memory technology, infrastructure expansion, AI hardware, and data governance. Notably, Vice President Kang Sun-Guk contributed to a special panel on “Memory and Storage Scaling for AI Inferencing,” emphasizing the importance of intelligent memory and networking solutions for high-throughput AI inference.

Looking ahead

SK Hynix aims to continue advancing its product portfolio to meet the evolving needs of AI, with ongoing R&D to deepen its leadership in DRAM and NAND solutions. The company remains committed to innovation that propels the entire memory ecosystem, ensuring its position as a key player in the future AI-driven technology landscape. Further details and product demonstrations from FMS 2025 will be shared through SK Hynix’s official channels in the coming months.
